About Us

Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of New Mexico is based in Santa Fe, New Mexico. RTYC-NM was founded on June 8th, 2008. The formation of Regional Tibetan Youth Congress of New Mexico (RTYCNM) emerged from Palden T. Digkhang's  witness of a TYC organized hunger strike in New Delhi, India.  RTYCNM was launched on June 8th, 2008 with the support of local Tibetans, CENTREX, and RTYC NY/NJ.

We had successful put together night with open SKYPE interview with Mr. Tsewang Rigzin la, Board members of RTYC NY/NJ, and showed video of the Interview by our Elders of New Mexico.  We passed out sign in sheet for everyone that came to gathering, if they would like to join RTYC NM. We had collected 12 people that are willing to join RTYC NM. On that day May 8, 2009 Regional Tibetan Youth Congress began in New Mexico.

We have organized several protests and candle light vigils to raise awareness on China’s ongoing human rights violations in Tibet.   Although small in number, we continually strive to bring Tibet’s cause for justice and independence.

Today June 8, 2009 we have 10 members (also Board Members) who have been staying strong and work really hard to make difference for our Freedom, and also for freedom in Tibet.  We are dedicated towards shedding light on the injustice that has been brought upon us by the brutal occupation of Tibet by the Chinese Communist Party.

TYC has emerged as the largest and most active non-governmental organization of Tibetans in exile. It has more than 30,000 members worldwide. TYC is united in a struggle for the restoration of complete independence for the whole of Tibet, which includes the tradition three provinces of U-Tsang, Do-toe, and Do-med. The March 2008 protests that spread across the Tibetan plateau united all Tibetans.  Ordinary Tibetans inside Tibet still resent the policies implemented by the Chinese Government officials.
